Polce Patrol vehicles provided by the Governance, Justice, Law and Order Sector (GJLOS) Reform Programme have enhanced police capacity to fight crime through increaase poliuce visibility and responsiveness

Supporting Provision of Services

It now takes less than 21 days to get a passport. You can also sownload application forms from the Government websites. The security bond required in the past is no longer applicable

Supporting Prison Reforms

Kenya Prisons Service now boasts a number of improvements like: Acquisition of vocational skills; Provision of on site medial care to prisoners; Improved dietry provisions; Humane transportation of prisoners; Organizing welfare activities including sports for the prisoners

Improvement in Delivery of Govt Services

A good number of these have been as a result of GJLOS bringing together Government, development partners and civil society to reform and improve the services the Government offers you

Reforms Start with You and Me

Reforms GJLOS is about creating reforms that involve every Kenyan who wants a better governed country where insecurity is not an everyday threat and the justice system works. After all it is you – the ordinary Kenyan who has to contend with insecurity, delays in the justice system and the effects of poor governance. Your voice, too, needs to be heard, loudly. On this site we have provided you with the means to be heard. You will find the Interactive Lounge especially useful for feedback.

Governance, Justice, Law and Order (GJLOS) Sector Reform Programme

GJLOS is a reform minded initiative led by the Government of Kenya to give its citizens better governance, justice, law and order. It is a programme that seeks to end corruption, slow and inept government services, and enhance professionalism in the civil service. It brings together everyone that has a stake in transforming Kenya into a better place, not just for our children, and our children's children but for all of us.

GJLOS is a multi-sectoral programme which brings together 32 government agencies and several semi-autonomous government agencies, non-governmental organizations and development partners. It was initially launched as a five-year programme. This was subsequently broken into:-

A one-year Short Term Priorities Programme (STPP) of "quick wins" to run from July 2004 to September 2005;
A four-year Medium Term Strategy (MTS) of deep seated reform running from October 2005 to June 2009.
